RACHEL

“Found Long Term Foster
We provide everything,
you provide love and care”

Rachel has a new place to call home. November 2010 Rachel moved into a permanent foster home. She is the only family pet and she is living the good life. She enjoys daily walks and has her hair brushed every day which she just loves.

Most of all, Rachel has a family to take care of. This is really all any of our canine friends want.

Here are a few of the updates from her new family:

Rachel is very smart and seems to understand everything I say to her. When Andy and I are in different rooms of the house she "patrols" back and forth to make sure her family is still where she left them and are okay. She is so happy when we are both in the same room that she practically dances and sings. She is relaxed enough now to fall asleep on a blanket in front of the TV. She stretches out on her side and enjoys herself a nice nap.

She loves her back yard. When she discovered the first snow this year she galloped, trotted, pranced, and jumped around. Even after a long walk she wants to stay out in her back yard to play but she comes in as soon as she is called because she is so happy to please us.

If we could find a permanent foster home who would love and care for Rachel for the rest of her life, we will provide all of her vetting and medications including heartworm and flea/tick preventative, all you would provide would be the love and care.

If you are interested in providing a lifetime foster home for Rachel, please fill out our adoption application at www.adrati.com. Adopt page gives guidelines, top right corner has application to fill out online and it emails it to us. We will go through the same process as for adoption and then work out fostering guidelines.
Hi, I’m Rachel. I am a Basset Hound and Husky mix. I am a low rider, short legged girl. My foster Mom says I look like I have on go-go boots. I am a wonderful, funny girl who loves to zoom zoom around the yard and entertain my humans.

My date of birth is estimated at November 1, 1998. The humans don’t know if I ever had a family and I can’t tell them. Here is what we do know. I was picked up wandering on my own in Powhatan County October 2000. I went to a place called Second Chance Animal Shelter November 16, 2000 and they never found me a home.

Second Chance closed down December 2006 and they sent me to Acres of Fun to board there. I was very uncertain of my fate. But this rescue group had known me for a while and the woman who operates ADRATI has been pretty good to help the Second Chancers. Two of them are her family members and she fostered many of the younger pups and got them families. And she gave Moses, the big Belgian Shepherd who had lived there longer than anybody, a home until he crossed The Rainbow Bridge.

Anyway, in the spring of 2007 ADRATI came and got me. So by now I am somewhat of a mature gal. Since I have lived in a shelter so much of my life and they didn’t let us interact with the other dogs, my foster Mom just doesn’t want to take any chances and says it would be best if I have a home of my own with just my human family. I love my humans. I am a very loyal companion and just the best company ever.

I am in good health. Actually my vetting just got updated August 2009 and let’s just say that the vet hopes she ages as well as I have. I gave her a few tips on staying in shape and looking great!

I am such a nice girl. I am really sweet and just great company. Could I come into your life and home and give you much love and happiness?
