Update on May 25, 2010:
May 18 Penelope went back for a check up and had her last vaccine. She will remain on the medication to heal the Demodex until June 15 and have another scraping and at that time, should be completely healed up.
Also on June 15 she will be spayed. Once she heals from her spay, she will move on to a loving family. This little gal got a lot of attention and we appreciate everyone's interest in her.
Update on Penelope May 20:
May 18 Penelope had her follow up appointment and she will remain on medication to allow her to recover from the Demodex for 30 days and that should have it fully cleared up. One more skin scraping will confirm this.
She also had her rabies vaccine so that completed her vaccines. On June 15, she will go in for her re-check for the Demodex and she will be spayed at that time. If all goes well, once she heals from her spay we will place her in a home sometime the week of June 21.
Meet baby Penelope, a 3 month old Puggle girl who was abandoned when her family moved and left her behind with no food or water weighing only 4 pounds when she was found. This little stressed out girl will learn from us that we humans are good and loving and we will get her turned around and get her good food and fresh water and vetting and love and care and teach her to love us and be a loyal and committed family member to us as we are to her!
Penelope has a mild case of Demodex mange (noncontagious) from the stress she has endured. We have started the medication for this. Penelope has had a vet visit and started her puppy shots. She will need to have time in between vetting to let her body heal and adjust. We will also need to give her time before she can be spayed, maybe five or six months.
