Update May 24, 2010:
What a difference rescue makes. Here is Miss Kitty with her new sister Gracie. She is starting to smile and wag her tail.
Miss Kitty is a Yorkie who is estimated to be 7 years old and she is not quite 6 pounds.
Miss Kitty was picked up and taken to an animal control shelter. It appeared her family had been contacted but they never came to get her. We believe she has been used for breeding, probably all of her life. She probably just had a litter of puppies. She has been debarked.
Right now, Miss Kitty is one of the saddest souls we have worked with in a long time. She is so sweet and will kiss your hands, but she has no wag in her tail and no smile on her little face. She is kind of expressionless.
Our small rescue group has paid for her vetting, had her heartworm tested, had a fecal done, had her vaccines done. We will have her spayed 4/30 and due to her age and lack of care we are having bloodwork done which will cost more, but we want her to be cared for now. Also she has irritated ears so she may have ear infections. She needs to have a dental exam also and we are having xrays done to determine exactly what she needs done, not just a cleaning and pull her teeth.
I just updated the info on Miss Kitty. I am her foster Mom. I am the one who sees the blank little face that seems so hopeless now. I try to put the good in the bio but sometimes we go back and tell what we know. I have had a lot of inquiries telling me that $100 adoption fee seems fair for Miss Kitty but to consider donating $300 also --why not go buy a puppy. Well, because this is rescue, and this little soul needed to be rescued, and she has never had any vetting and we aren't spending $100 to vet her, we will probably spend $1000 or more for her care. We are asking $100 adoption fee plus $300 donation for a total of $400 to help us care for Miss Kitty. That will leave a large balance on her vetting for us to raise funds to cover her bill.
And this is just part of the care for Miss Kitty. We will do everything we can to get this girl turned around to be a happy and healthy soul who knows that people are good and we don't want to make a living from her babies.
We never want her to have babies again, there are too many out there now. If you are truly interested in providing a home for Miss Kitty, our adoption process and app are below.
If you are interested in adopting, fill out our adoption application. Adopt page gives guidelines, top right corner has application to fill out online and it emails it to us.
