Buck is a 2 year old yellow Labrador Retriever who was wandering loose and picked up by animal control where he remained for 30 days until by a miracle we became aware of him. On June 18 we took him from the shelter and brought him into rescue.
Buck was vetted, had all of his vaccines, tested negative for heartworm and tick borne diseases, and neutered. Buck seemed to have some soreness in his back legs. We really believed this was from spending the time on concrete at the shelter. To be sure of his condition, a full set of hip and knee x-rays were done and a full blood screen was done. We were happy to discover that this boy is healthy and there is no sign of any trauma or dysplasia. His hips and knees are in good condition.
Buck does have some sore spots on his knee and ankle areas and these do have infection. This is from being on concrete and the harsh cleaning treatments at the shelter. These places were drained and cleaned and he was put on 3 weeks of antibiotics. After just a couple of days, he is healing nicely and is now running around the yard being a typical 2 year old Lab.
Buck is a nice size boy at about 85 pounds. He loves all people, is great with children, is great with all dogs big and small, and although he has no cat experience that we know of he will probably be okay with cats. He rides well in the car. He walks pretty well on lead. He will stay close to his humans and will take to training very nicely. He is praise and food motivated. He does love to swim.
Buck is totally crate trained, although he much prefers to be wherever his people are. So far he has had no accidents in the home. He gets attached quite quickly. He is just a love bug and wants desperately to help complete a family and get settled in. You will not find a better buddy than Buck, he is truly an awesome boy.
We paid $150 to get Buck’s basic vetting done, but with doing the extensive medical treatment to make sure that he was healthy, we spent another $480 for a follow up exam, x-rays, and bloodwork for a total of $630, not counting starting his heartworm and flea/tick preventative.
Based on the vetting we have incurred for Buck we are asking for a $50 adoption fee and a $300 donation for a total fee of $350 to help cover some of the vetting expense for Buck.
If you are interested in adopting, fill out our adoption application. Adopt page gives guidelines, top right corner has application to fill out online and it emails it to us.
